LASER *working with lasers can be dangerous without proper care*
At the beginning of the design process, Kate (Director) had talked about how we wanted to place the show in a BDSM club akin to the Berlin rave scene. This piqued my interest and desire to work with a Laser Projector in the show. Since lasers come with their own risks, I had to become intimately familiar with safe working practices when working with these fixtures.
The Laser used was the Laserworld DS-3000RGB laser.
A 3-Watt laser that can be controlled through the Ethernet output of a Windows Laptop.
The native software compatible is Showeditor.
The first step for working with a laser was setting up Beam Attenuation Maps to reduce the power output of the laser where performers and audience will be.
I set up the laser in a way that required me to be the operator of the laser every night and ensure safe operation.
