The stage is carpeted with dirt and Kelly really embraces an animalistic style of performance...  and the invitation to enter a surreal, dreamlike space. The design elements eloquently facilitate conscious introspection; Gabriel Bethune’s superb lighting and projection design create some stunning, kaleidoscopic images and Beau Esposito’s sound design (as usual) gets under the skin with subtle melancholy.

The Process

Making Content and Rehearsal |
Lighting design and Video design rarely go together in a creative process, however they have great consequences for one another. Knowing that the projection would act as a light source for the performer meant that we focused largely on video with texture as well as evocations of nature for the theme of the show.

The Video was filmed footage I shot with my DSLR and editted in DaVinci Resolve, as well as content made in the VFX Software Blender.

There is an inefficiency often with the rendering and outputing of content at home, needing to set the workstation to output before leaving home and only seeing the outcome and any fixes that need to be made when returning. To address this problem, I had set my workstation with a VPN Client and Network Port so that I could access my Workstation from my Laptop anywhere with an internet connection, as well as SSH File Sharing to access my files directly. No more forgotten files.
