Casey Harper-Wood’s stage design was instrumental in generating the oppressive atmosphere. In conjunction with Gabriel Bethune’s lighting design it was also somewhat confronting. Members of the audience could see themselves mirrored in the Perspex panels until the central space was lit to reveal the singers.

Audio Reactive Lighting Patch

For the Opera, a central design aspect was the Octagon of the Lighthouse and LED strip on the edges of the perspex. A musical refrain is the last moment of the show with The Lighthouse being redesigned to be automatic, without needing keepers. Instead of programming the lights to rise in intensity then blackout, I decided that it would be more impactful to create an audio reactive patch.
